I don't know why today, of all days, I feel cranky and ill-tempered. Perhaps I am taking things too seriously. I should take a chill pill.
I've been working on this holiday party. Thank heavens for bff's! Through hell and high waters (lol .... include the rain too!), my BFF-J (hehehe) went with me (and so did my daughter... who patiently tagged along) to canvass for deals on booking the party. Needless to say, yeah.. we got drenched in the rain. We went to at least three venues and finally got a good deal. It was worth the day's work, I must say.
The work does not end there. We still have to solicit RSVPs to come up with the minimum required number of guests to be able to book the place. And so.. the recruiting goes on.
In as much as it gets tiring to park in the chat room all day, I stayed in there the whole day today, trying to get people to say YES. At least until we reach 80 sign-ups. I got different kinds of responses and all sorts of alibis.
My thought on this is: if I wanted to attend a special occasion, I'd make everything possible. I don't believe in such a thing as "it's too far ahead to tell or it's too far for me or yada-yada-yada" -- because the event in itself is the occasion. Ugh. I must really be tired to be acting this way.
But Hey... to each his own. If they don't feel the way I do, so be it. I'd be damned if towards the end I'd see their names all lined up for a seat!! Anyway... there's more to the irritation than that.
This woman came into the chat room and with all arrogance started to chatter herself to my annoyance. I don't usually pay attention to snide remarks and such, unless, like today, I was not in the best of moods. She insolently regarded this party (that we worked so hard on, to put together) as CRAP!
Lord have mercy on me! I wanted to kick the daylights out of her head! Who does she think she is to talk that way? That was not only rude, it was totally insulting. And she continued on to belittle the other people in the chat room -- remarking about fixing spelling errors on their profiles! She must own a dictionary company so she's urging people to buy dictionaries to fix their errors LOL.
Now... that crossed the line. Although the comment was not directed at me, I gave her my piece of mind. To make a long story short, we exchanged some contemptible and cynical remarks. LOL. So much for fun for a day.
What irks me is the fact that people lack the common courtesy to shut their mouths and speak their minds as if they rule the world -- all for the attention. They show no respect for the feelings of those who may be affected by their malicious acts.
And yes, I do... I am taking this seriously. Whatever I do may not be appreciated by all, but at least in my mind and in my heart, I know that I am doing my good deed for the "year". Amen.
