When

If not now... when?

I mused over this phrase again and again. The more I dwell upon it, the clearer it came. 

It's a symptom... of uncertainty.  A promise that will not see its end.

So I've been told "not today ... sometime soon".  But that sometime never happened. Nor will it ever happen. It was just said to console the longing. Nothing more.
